It is International Yoga day and it is time to rethink about the fitness regime – if you are not already doing so. For busy mothers like you and me, doing yoga with kids could be particularly mind boggling. Here are some tips that you can use to include your kids in the yoga regime.
So ladies! Go ahead and enjoy the YOGA DAY and a great healthy year ahead!!
- Start with the basics: Children love to spend time with you. Make yoga sessions one such time. Start with some basics like the tree pose or just hold hands and help create and look like a tree. Making it fun, will enable you to focus on your yoga poses and at the same time, your kids will enjoy too.
- YOGA = FUN: In our busy hectic schedule finding time to rejoice with kids is a great achievement by itself. Use yoga time to create this fun time with kids. Allow your kids to try new poses. They will surprise you with the new random amazing moves that they can do with their flexible body. Kids love colors- make this exercise colorful by purchasing some creative and colorful yoga mats.
- Animal poses: All kids like animal moves and animal sounds. Try one animal pose every day. Camel, butterfly, cobra and cat moves can easily be done by kids. It is important that they enjoy what they do. Whichever version they attempt, just make sure that they are safe and having a good time.
- Don’t expect too much: It might seem that your kids are enjoying yoga. So you would expect them to sit for a full session of 30 minutes. WRONG! Kids below 10 years do not have an attention span to sit for long intervals. Make yoga to be a fun session for 15 minutes bursts. This will ensure that they perform yoga and have fun too.
