Travelling for work??…Ditch the guilt
As a mom of two, I have to genuinely admit that there are some days that I secretly escape into the bathroom – just to grab that couple of minutes to be “me” … just me…not a mom, wife, daughter or a career woman. It is good to get some “me” time to feel rejuvenated and relaxed. It helps me jump back to the daily chores, routines and work.
But the case is different when you are travelling for work – you are away from your kids for more than a couple of days or weeks. It looks more of a guilt trip for many mothers. Not able to be with your family for a long time seems like an eternal wait.
But wait, this trip can still do a lot of good to you, your children and your relationship.
When you are not around, the entire responsibility of the house falls on your spouse. Your children and your spouse will learn to do a lot of chores on their own. Be confident about your relationship and the upbringing of your children. Your children and spouse will surely miss you when you are not around. But at the same time, they become more independent and organized…because they realize that help is not a shout away.
You will get a lot of time for yourself, which you would have craved for since the time your children are in your lap. You don’t have to rush back home to cook for your hungry family. You don’t have to run around doing the laundry. You don’t even have to plan your next day….Utilize this time and spend time with ‘yourself’. Use your evenings to take a walk, exercise or watch a movie. Go to a spa and enjoy the rejuvenating massage or take a dip in the pool. It is not always that you get time to pamper yourself.
Once back, you will be a happier mother, your spouse will be much more understanding and your children will be a lot more independent!!!
